Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh officially assumed command of the Sapta Shakti Command on Monday, according to a defence spokesperson. Following a tribute at Prerna Sthal, he succeeded to his new role.

An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla, and the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, Singh was commissioned in December 1986. His distinguished 37-year military career includes various command and staff appointments, notably in Jammu and Kashmir and the Western Front.

He has led his battalion in counter-insurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir, commanded an infantry brigade on the Line of Control, an infantry division as part of the Desert Strike Corps, and a corps deployed for counter-insurgency operations on the Line of Control.

Defence spokesperson Colonel Amitabh Sharma noted that General Singh has been recognized with the Yudh Seva Medal (2015), Vishisht Seva Medal (2019), and Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (2024) for his leadership and dedication.

Upon assuming command, the Army Commander extended congratulatory wishes to all ranks and military families.
