In a scathing criticism, AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami has denounced Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin over the state's worsening law and order situation following the brutal killing of an AIADMK functionary.

Palaniswami remarked on Sunday that it is ironic for Chief Minister Stalin to boast about excellent law and order when people live 'in fear' at all times. 'Law and order have completely deteriorated in Tamil Nadu under the DMK regime,' claimed the leader of the opposition. 'No one is safe, including the general public, police personnel, and political party members,' he alleged in a social media post.

Palaniswami expressed his shock at the murder of his party's office-bearer, Pushpanathan, by a six-member gang in Cuddalore district. He demanded swift action from Stalin to bring the perpetrators to justice and conveyed his condolences to Pushpanathan's family.

In a related incident, a police constable was assaulted by a suspect in Tiruchirappalli on Saturday and sustained injuries.
