A Bengaluru court on Wednesday rejected the bail plea of former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, who is embroiled in multiple allegations of rape and sexual harassment.

The Additional City Civil and Sessions Court Judge reserved his ruling on Monday and delivered the verdict today, thereby denying Revanna's bail request.

The 33-year-old Revanna is presently held by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is probing the alleged sex crimes. He was initially remanded to judicial custody until July 8 but was later handed over to SIT custody until June 29 following a body warrant request by the Special Public Prosecutor.

Four cases have been registered against Revanna, the grandson of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda. All cases are currently under SIT investigation. Revanna's attempt to retain the Hassan parliamentary constituency in recent polls was unsuccessful.

The bail plea pertains to a case registered at Holenarasipura town police station, where Revanna is accused of sexually harassing a 47-year-old former maid. His father and local MLA, H D Revanna, is listed as the primary accused.

The allegations came to the fore after explicit videos involving Prajwal Revanna surfaced in Hassan before the Lok Sabha polls.

Subsequently, the JD(S) suspended Prajwal from the party. Another case from May 1 involves a 44-year-old former member of the Hassan Zilla Panchayat alleging repeated rape by Prajwal. The third case involves a woman in her 60s from Mysuru's K R Nagara, initially reported as a kidnap case.

The fourth case, registered on June 12 at CID's cyber crime police station in Bengaluru, charges Prajwal with sexual harassment, stalking, criminal intimidation, and IT Act violations. Sources revealed that Prajwal was taken to Holenarasipura for an inquest at his residence related to the latest case.
