The gun battle erupted at 3:30 pm near the Muhkot-Aamjhar villages, under the Khallari police station limits, involving a District Reserve Guard (DRG) team led by Superintendent of Police Anjneya Varshney, as they embarked on an anti-Naxalite mission.

During the encounter, the patrolling team encountered resistance while cordoning off the Muhkot-Aamjhar forest. The Naxalites fled into the dense forest, leaving behind a slain colleague, a self-loading rifle (SLR), Maoist literature, and daily-use items discovered by the forces. SP Varshney confirmed over the phone that the search for more insurgents will continue.

With this operation, the tally of Naxalites killed in Chhattisgarh this year has reached 133, including 131 in Bastar division and two in Dhamtari district, part of Raipur division.
