A Delhi court has required the personal appearance of a Delhi Police investigating officer to address the issue of preserving CCTV footage connected to an alleged assault on Samir Modi, executive director of Godfrey Philips India (GPI), during a board meeting on May 30.

Metropolitan Magistrate Aridamam Singh Cheema heard the plea seeking a court-monitored probe into the FIR lodged by Samir Modi at Sarita Vihar police station. The plea emphasized the need to preserve the CCTV footage, claimed to be critical for a fair and proper investigation.

The court underscored the importance of preserving the footage, stating, 'In the interest of justice, the CCTV footage of the GPI head office entrance in Jasola must be preserved from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on May 30, 2024.'

Additionally, the court summoned the investigating officer and directed the Delhi Police official to submit a status report. On Saturday, the court noted the officer's submission concerning the footage preservation and has summoned Inspector Niraj to appear in person on June 27.

Samir Modi's FIR, filed on June 1, alleges that he was prevented from participating in the board meeting by his mother Bina Modi's personal security officer and was grievously injured. Modi accused his mother and Mr. Bhasin of orchestrating the assault, supported by other board members.

The FIR includes charges under IPC sections 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and 341 (wrongful restraint), demanding stringent action against the accused, given their influential positions.
