Two brothers were arrested from Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad for allegedly duping a woman with the promise of a job in the Education Ministry, officials announced.

Saurabh Singh, 24, and Sagar Singh, 27, were accused of cheating the woman out of Rs 3 lakh under the guise of processing and interview fees, according to authorities.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) MK Meena stated that the woman, who is still in school, filed a complaint after responding to a Facebook post by 'Karan Tiwari' on the group 'Sant Nagar Burari,' which advertised 12 seats in the ministry for graduates.

After initiating communication via the page, the alleged scammer detailed the job application process and subsequently requested payment for processing and interview fees through a Gmail account (educationministry98@gmail.com).

The accused brothers maintained contact and extracted approximately Rs 3 lakh through multiple transactions.

A comprehensive search of the money trail led to their arrest in Vijay Nagar, Ghaziabad, where police recovered four smartphones, three SIM cards, and a basic keypad phone.

Further interrogation of the suspects is ongoing, police said.
