The Bombay High Court on Thursday voiced its dissatisfaction with the Maharashtra government for not fully executing the Supreme Court's directives regarding 'living will' implementation.
A bench comprising Chief Justice D K Upadhyaya and Justice Amit Borkar described it as 'unfortunate' that a petition was needed to enforce an apex court judgment.
In accordance with the Supreme Court ruling, all municipal corporations must establish medical boards and appoint a custodian to safeguard living wills. Presently, execution is hindered by the absence of a mandatory secondary medical board, despite some progress like appointing 417 custodians.
