Undeterred by heavy rainfall, contingents from Mauritius and the Indian Navy showcased a full dress rehearsal at Champ de Mars in anticipation of the 57th Mauritius National Day celebrations. With pride, an Indian contingent member expressed optimism about the upcoming march past.

The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Imphal makes its debut in Port Louis, marking a milestone in Indo-Mauritian defense relations. INS Imphal, which docked on March 10 and will partake in the National Day festivities on March 12, symbolizes India's ongoing commitment to its maritime partner.

The parade will feature a marching unit, a band, and a helicopter flypast, according to the Ministry of National Defence's press release. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will grace the event as Chief Guest, further emphasizing the robust diplomatic ties between the two nations.

During its stay from March 10-14, INS Imphal will engage in various bilateral activities with Mauritius, including training exchanges, cultural events, and friendly sports. Additionally, joint maritime security exercises with the Mauritius Coast Guard are planned to bolster regional stability. These efforts align with India's 'Neighbourhood First' policy and PM Modi's SAGAR vision, underscoring the nation's dedication to the Indian Ocean Region's peace and prosperity.

Commissioned in December 2023, INS Imphal is part of the Visakhapatnam-class destroyers, renowned for cutting-edge technology. Its participation in the National Day reflects India's commitment to enhancing Indo-Mauritian ties and ensuring regional security.
