In a decisive operation, Pakistani security forces on Thursday thwarted a terrorist attack on a checkpost in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in the death of 10 militants. The incident followed a suicide bombing near the Frontier Corps camp, according to security sources.
Witnesses in Jandola, South Waziristan district, reported hearing heavy gunfire after a significant explosion, Geo News stated based on police information. The terrorists' attempt to breach the Jandola checkpost was met with strong resistance from security forces, who repelled the attack. A suicide bomber had detonated a vehicle near the FC camp.
This attack came on the heels of a successful operation the previous day, in which security forces neutralized all 33 attackers who had seized the Jaffar Express train in Balochistan. The incidents occur amid a reported 42% rise in terror attacks in January 2025, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa being the most affected province.
