In a gesture of international respect, former Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga visited the Indian Embassy in Tokyo, signing a condolence book to honor the late Manmohan Singh, who passed away in Delhi on December 26. The Indian Embassy in Tokyo announced that Suga, now Vice President of Japan's Liberal Democratic Party, extended his condolences to Singh, a significant architect of India's modern economic framework.
Manmohan Singh, who died at 92 due to age-related complications, was cremated with full state honors at Nigambodh Ghat in Delhi on December 28. His funeral was attended by family, friends, and top government officials, including President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, all of whom laid wreaths in tribute to the influential leader.
Prominent Congress figures, including Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi, were present at the cremation, honoring Singh's extensive political legacy. Known for his pivotal role in economic reform as Finance Minister from 1991 to 1996, Singh led the country as Prime Minister from 2004 until 2014, guiding India through economic challenges. His contributions have left an indelible mark on the nation's development trajectory.
