India and Albania partook in a significant round of bilateral consultations in Tirana on October 31. The Indian delegation was led by Arun Kumar Sahu, Additional Secretary (Central Europe) of the Ministry of External Affairs, while the Albanian side was headed by Endrit Yzeiraj, Deputy Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania. According to a post by India's Ministry of External Affairs, the discussions spanned the entire spectrum of bilateral relations, addressing regional and global concerns of mutual interest.
The consultations involved a meticulous evaluation of bilateral, regional, and international issues. The trajectory of bilateral trade between the two countries has been upward over the past five years. Key export items include petroleum products, engineering goods, pharmaceuticals, and construction materials. India and Albania engage in a variety of initiatives such as cultural exchange programs, an ITEC scholarship program for Albanian students, and the celebration of International Yoga Day in Albania.
Recent high-level engagements include a meeting between External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Albanian Foreign Minister Igli Hasani during the Raisina Dialogue in February 2024, and the participation of Albana Tole, Albania's Deputy Minister of Education and Sports, in the Voice of Global South Summit in November 2023.
