Hockey India has unveiled the largest-ever prize pool of Rs 12 crore for its upcoming 7th Annual Awards, set to recognize outstanding achievements in the 2024 season. The awards ceremony, taking place this Saturday, will highlight exceptional performances across eight categories.
A notable feature of this year's event is the Balbir Singh Sr Award for Player of the Year, celebrating the top male and female players. The ceremony will also shine a light on emerging talent through awards like the Jugraj Singh Award for Upcoming Player of the Year (Men) and the Asunta Lakra Award for Upcoming Player of the Year (Women).
This year's awards hold significant historical value, marking the 50th anniversary of India's 1975 World Cup win and reflecting on a century of Indian hockey since joining the International Hockey Federation in 1925. In addition to individual awards, India's Olympic bronze team, and victors of the Asian Champions Trophy and Junior Asia Cup, will also be honored.
