The head of Bangladesh's leading business organization, Md. Hafizur Rahman, has expressed strong optimism about the enduring nature of trade relations with India, despite recent declines. Speaking with ANI, Rahman emphasized that the fall in trade figures following political changes in Bangladesh is not expected to be a long-term issue.
Rahman noted that India continues to be a crucial import partner for Bangladesh, supplying essential raw materials needed for the country's industries. The dip in imports, caused by a foreign currency reserve crisis and an unfavorable exchange rate, is temporary, he asserted, as Bangladesh looks to stabilize its economic conditions.
Although Bangladesh recently witnessed political upheavals that led to a change in government and subsequent unrest, Rahman argues that this has not critically harmed trade ties with India. He highlighted the necessity for stable banking operations and improved transportation to ensure smooth trading operations.
