In a significant move by law enforcement, the Israel Police foiled an imminent assassination attempt tied to criminal gang activity in the city of Ashdod. The plot, which involved an improvised explosive device (IED), was intercepted by the central unit of the Lachish area in the southern district.

Officers discovered the IED near a residential area, preventing potential harm. Two individuals have been detained in connection to this case. The suspects include a man in his 30s from Ashdod, suspected of planting the device, and another in his 20s from Beersheba, implicated in prior gang-related violence.

This successful operation underscores the ongoing commitment of the Israel Police to curb organized crime and protect citizens from potential violence associated with gang conflicts.
