German Chancellor Olaf Scholz embarked on a significant two-day state visit to India, where he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi. The leaders jointly inaugurated the Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business 2024, marking a crucial step in strengthening bilateral economic ties.
The focus of their bilateral talks encompasses vital areas such as defense, trade, and clean energy, confirmed by the Ministry of External Affairs. Key discussions prioritize enhanced security and defense cooperation, greater mobility opportunities for talent, deeper economic collaboration, the Green and Sustainable Development Partnership, and strategic technology partnerships.
Chancellor Scholz will also co-chair the 7th Intergovernmental Consultations (IGC), a comprehensive ministerial meeting from both nations to evaluate ongoing collaborations. Additionally, the visit features the 18th Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business 2024, attracting significant participation from top business leaders, further enhancing trade relations. The visit concludes with the German naval frigate's arrival in Goa, accentuating Germany's Indo-Pacific engagement.
