Raminder Ranger, a prominent member of the UK's House of Lords, has praised the recent meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping as a vital step towards establishing peace between the two nations. The landmark meeting took place on the margins of the BRICS Summit in Kazan, following an agreement earlier this week on patrolling arrangements along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh.
Prime Minister Modi underscored the significance of maintaining peace and stability at the border, insisting that mutual trust should form the foundation of bilateral ties. Lord Ranger, speaking with ANI, expressed the importance of peace between India and China, reminiscing about the 'Hindi Chini Bhai Bhai' era, which was tainted by the 1962 Chinese invasion of India.
Former Indian diplomat Jayant Prasad also noted the significance of the Modi-Xi meeting, urging India and China to normalize relations for mutual development. He highlighted that both countries are projected to be global leaders by 2050, and any strained relations could hinder achieving development goals. Prime Minister Modi reiterated the pivotal role of the India-China relationship for global peace and progress.
