Dr. Ng Eng Hen, Singapore's Minister of Defence, has embarked on a three-day visit to India. His agenda includes co-chairing the sixth India-Singapore Defence Ministers' Dialogue alongside Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi. This summit marks a significant step in fostering the strategic partnership between the two nations.

In his address, Singh emphasized the importance of the meeting during India's decade of the Act East Policy, highlighting Singapore's pivotal role in advancing economic cooperation and cultural ties. Dr. Ng reciprocated by acknowledging India's integral place in the East from Singapore's perspective, underlining deep-rooted historical connections.

Reflecting on collaborative milestones, Dr. Ng recalled India's early assistance to the Singapore armed forces, illustrating the enduring partnership. He expressed satisfaction with the enhanced defence cooperation and comprehensive strategic partnership over the past decade.

As precedents to this meeting, the Ministry of Defence had announced the session as part of ongoing efforts to diversify engagements, including military exchanges and bilateral exercises. Launched in 2016, the dialogue serves as a crucial forum for strengthening defence ties between India and Singapore.
