Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay provided a heartfelt glimpse into his personal connection with India during his address at the 'NDTV World Summit 2024: The India Century.'

Tobgay revealed a little-known fact that he was born in India in 1965, in Kalimpong, where his parents were serving.

He attributed his dedication to serving Bhutan to his formative years in Indian educational institutions, especially highlighting his time at Dr. Graham's homes in Kalimpong.

Tobgay elaborated on the longstanding educational ties between Bhutan and India, noting many Bhutanese received their education in India due to a lack of institutions back home at that time.

He praised Indian teachers who played crucial roles in Bhutan's educational development.

In response to a question on India's rising global influence, Tobgay praised India's economic strength and leadership.

Highlighting India's position as the world's most populous nation with a growing economy, he emphasized its consumer power and notable diaspora.

He concluded by acknowledging India's leadership, marking this as 'India's Century' and reflecting on India's role as a burgeoning global leader.
