In a significant diplomatic initiative, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will visit India from October 24-26, 2024, at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The visit marks the 7th Intergovernmental Consultations (IGC) between the two nations, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs on Monday.
During this visit, Prime Minister Modi and Chancellor Scholz will co-chair the IGC, a strategy that involves comprehensive discussions across various sectors. Senior ministers from Chancellor Scholz's cabinet will accompany him, ensuring a thorough exchange about enhanced security measures, defense cooperation, mobility of talent, economic collaboration, and partnership in emerging technologies.
The leaders are also set to address the Asia Pacific Conference of German Business (APK 2024) in New Delhi, a high-profile business event expected to boost trade ties. The visit includes a symbolic naval port call in Goa, reinforcing Germany's strategic deployment in the Indo-Pacific region. This visit also celebrates enduring Indo-German partnerships as they mark 50 years of scientific collaboration.
