A couple identified as Revital Yehud, 45, and Dvir Sharvit, 43, tragically lost their lives during a rocket barrage on Kiryat Shmona, underscoring the vulnerability of those remaining in northern Israel. Despite an evacuation order, they were among three thousand residents who chose to stay in the northern city out of ideology, age, or unwillingness to relocate to temporary accommodations.
The attack, claimed by Hezbollah, was the deadliest involving civilians since Israeli Defense Forces launched a ground operation in Lebanon on October 1. Yehud and Sharvit's deaths mark a somber milestone amid ongoing violence, as over 90 rockets were fired by Hezbollah at northern communities since Wednesday morning, causing fires and destruction.
In the wake of increased hostilities following the Hamas attacks on October 7, Hezbollah continues its aggressive stance, displacing tens of thousands. Israeli authorities are urging Hezbollah's disarmament in alignment with UN resolution 1701, seeking to restore peace and security in the region.
