During a press briefing on Tuesday, US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller remarked that discussions with the Indian government frequently encompass regional issues, such as Bangladesh. However, he refrained from offering specific details about last week's meeting between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in Washington, DC.
Miller responded to inquiries regarding whether Bangladesh was a topic in the Blinken-Jaishankar meeting by stating, 'Regional issues, including Bangladesh, are often topics in our discussions with the Indian government.' This follows Bangladesh's political shifts, marked by protests leading to an interim government under Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus.
The diplomatic meeting, which took place on October 1, saw discussions extend from the Indo-Pacific region to West Asia and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Both leaders expressed commitment to expanding collaboration in clean energy to combat the climate crisis, while also underlining bilateral cooperation and strategic global partnerships.
