A knife attack at a suburban supermarket in Shanghai, China, resulted in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to 15 others, according to a report by Al Jazeera. The incident, part of a spate of knife-related attacks in major Chinese cities this year, occurred in the city's southwest on Monday.
Soon after the attack, the suspect, identified as a 37-year-old man with the surname Lin, was apprehended by local Songjiang police, who issued a statement on Tuesday. Preliminary investigations suggest that Lin traveled to Shanghai to vent his anger over a private financial dispute, authorities said. The attack coincided with preparations for China's 'Golden Week' vacation, which begins around National Day on October 1.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the case, and more details are awaited. This attack follows the fatal stabbing of a 10-year-old Japanese schoolboy last month in Shenzhen, and a May incident where a man killed eight people and injured one in Xiaogan, Hubei province.
