Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephonic conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday to discuss the latest developments in West Asia. Modi emphasized India's unwavering commitment to supporting efforts for the early restoration of peace and stability in the region. He stressed the importance of preventing further escalation and ensuring the safe release of all hostages.
In a post on social media platform X, Modi stated, "Spoke to Prime Minister @netanyahu about recent developments in West Asia. Terrorism has no place in our world. It is crucial to prevent regional escalation and ensure the safe release of all hostages. India is committed to supporting efforts for an early restoration of peace and stability." This follows Israel's October counter-offensive against Hamas, where over 1200 people were killed and more than 250 hostages taken.
The conflict has intensified with Houthi rebels in Yemen targeting Israel and other nations in the Red Sea, while Israel continues its strikes on Hezbollah in Lebanon. Global calls for a ceasefire and a two-state solution have emerged as potential paths to lasting peace. Netanyahu warned that the war with Hamas would only end if Hamas disarms and releases all hostages, vowing that Israel would fight until achieving total victory.
