UAE Gears Up for COP29 with Focus on Strengthening Climate Commitments

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, chaired the fourth meeting of the Preparatory Committee for the UAE's participation in COP29, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the UAE Consensus to curb global temperature rise.
During the virtual meeting, Sheikh Abdullah highlighted the achievements since COP28 and the critical role of multilateral diplomacy in crafting effective climate solutions. He praised Azerbaijan's commitment to advancing global climate action and expressed hopes to expand upon the successes of COP28 at the upcoming COP29.
The committee discussed future plans for COP29, including UAE's water-related initiatives and the significant role of its national negotiating team. Transparent reporting of climate commitments and the UAE's participation in the NDC Partnership were also reviewed, aiming to ensure cohesive and impactful participation at COP29.
