Dubai [UAE], September 5 (ANI/WAM): The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has announced that the annual national seasonal influenza awareness campaign will kick off on September 9. The initiative, titled 'Immunise Yourself... Protect Your Community,' is being launched in collaboration with Emirates Health Services (EHS), Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC), Department of Health Abu Dhabi (DoH), and the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).

The campaign will strengthen MoHAP's efforts in managing preventive and community programs, ensuring comprehensive health coverage, and enhancing the quality of life throughout the UAE. It aims to promote awareness about the importance of getting vaccinated against seasonal influenza, improve the skills of medical professionals through the latest international prevention practices, and expand vaccine coverage for target groups.

Targeting all population segments, including citizens, residents, and healthcare professionals, the campaign focuses specifically on those most susceptible to severe flu complications—elderly individuals, pregnant women, and people with chronic conditions. The initiative supports MoHAP's national strategy to immunise the community and safeguard public health, highlighting the significance of vaccination and disease prevention.

The campaign will aid in upgrading the country's healthcare system by working closely with relevant health authorities for coordinated efforts, aiming to maximise societal benefits. As a key annual initiative, it focuses on necessary preventive measures to limit the spread of influenza while educating the public about the causes, symptoms, and prevention methods.

Collaborating with strategic partners, the Ministry strives to make awareness programs more accessible and diverse, reaching all societal segments for pre-flu season vaccination. According to the World Health Organisation, seasonal influenza is an acute respiratory infection caused by influenza viruses, which spread easily through coughing or sneezing. Vaccination remains the most effective way to prevent the disease and curb its transmission. (ANI/WAM)
