In the wake of severe flooding across 11 districts of Bangladesh, thousands continue to face the grim aftermath as floodwaters recede. According to The Daily Star, the disaster has left at least 59 people dead and affected over 53 lakh individuals, rendering many homeless and in desperate need of assistance.

Among the hardest hit are low-income families and farmers, who have suffered the loss of both their homes and livelihoods. "Floodwaters swept away my mud house. It's all I had in this world. Now, I have no place to live," lamented 65-year-old Nurun Begum from Mierpara village in Moulvibazar. Other affected individuals, like autorickshaw driver Sujan Mia, have taken temporary shelter in neighbors' homes but face an uncertain future.

Moulvibazar District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Mohammad Sadu Mia reported that around 8,786 houses have been damaged in the district alone. Similar devastation has been observed in Cumilla, where approximately 40,000 houses have been affected. Government reports estimate that over seven lakh families remain marooned across the country, though flood conditions are gradually improving in several districts.
