At least 22 people, including 11 children, have died and 13 more have been injured due to recent torrential rains in Balochistan, according to a report by Pakistan-based The Nation citing the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA). The heavy rains have affected 5,448 individuals, damaged 158 homes, and partially damaged 622 structures.

The rains have also wreaked havoc on infrastructure and agriculture, impacting 102 acres of crops and 35 kilometers of roads. The PDMA report highlighted that seven bridges have been damaged and 131 livestock have perished. Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned of a strong monsoon spell from August 26-30, which is expected to affect Balochistan, entire Sindh, and southern Punjab.

"Another monsoon spell is expected to hit Sindh from August 26, bringing with it a renewed wave of rainfall," Sarfraz stated. He cautioned that the rainfall's intensity could cause disruptions in daily life including flash flooding, landslides, and power outages. Citizens are advised to stay informed and take proactive measures to ensure their safety.

Meanwhile, the PMD has issued a forecast for torrential rains, particularly in the southern regions, from August 25 to 29, according to a report by Dawn. An advisory from the PMD noted that a low-pressure weather system over West Bengal is likely to move westwards and may reach Pakistan's southern coasts by August 25.
