On Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza, calling the moment very sensitive and emphasizing that it should not be compared to the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Responding to a question from ANI on the Israel-Gaza conflict, Zelenskyy said, "It is a very sensitive moment... We cannot compare our war, the war of Russia against Ukraine. There are no significant religious discrepancies between our countries. Various religions exist in both Ukraine and Russia, so it is not a war about religious differences. This is a war orchestrated by one person, and that's it."
Zelenskyy further elaborated, "In our case, we have a person who is gradually executing his steps. This is his war; it was his idea. We can't compare it with a war or crisis in the Middle East." The conflict between Israel and Gaza escalated on October 7 after Hamas attacks resulted in over 1,200 deaths and 252 Israelis and foreigners being taken hostage near the Gaza border. Of the 111 remaining hostages, 39 have been declared dead, and Hamas has also been holding two Israeli civilians captive since 2014 and 2015, along with the bodies of two soldiers killed in 2014.
