US Congressman Don Beyer believes that India-US relations will significantly benefit if the Democratic Party wins the upcoming presidential elections in November. Speaking to ANI, Beyer emphasized the strong bond between PM Modi and US President Joe Biden. He stated that having a woman of Indian descent as the US President would send a positive message to 1.5 billion people in India and the subcontinent.

When asked about expectations for India-US ties if Democrats win, Beyer remarked, "It will be very healthy for the relationship. It's already strong but sometimes concerns arise over India's oil and gas ties with Russia." He further highlighted the prominent presence of Indian Americans in various sectors, asserting that Kamala Harris's nomination would reinforce this positive image.

Harris, daughter of Jamaican-born Donald Harris and Indian-born Shyamala Gopalan, represents a significant milestone as the first Asian American and Black woman on a major party ticket. Her nomination follows President Joe Biden's exit from the race, tied to concerns over his performance and age.

The third night of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago featured speeches from Kamala Harris's running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, and other key figures like former President Bill Clinton and Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi. The night focused on themes of freedom and rights, with Democrats striving to highlight what's at stake if Trump returns to office.

Meanwhile, former President Barack Obama took the stage earlier this week, urging Americans to support Harris. Other notable speakers included Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, Senator Bernie Sanders, and former Trump press secretary Stephanie Grisham, who criticized Trump's lack of empathy and morals.

Former President Donald Trump, however, responded aggressively, accusing Democrats of being "out of control" and attributing recent assassination attempts to hostile rhetoric. His remarks followed criticism from several speakers at the convention, including Obama.
