On the second day of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago, Senator Bernie Sanders publicly endorsed Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee for President. Citing achievements of the Biden administration, Sanders emphasized the significance of Harris's election and stressed the need for further progressive economic policies.

"When the political will is there, government can effectively deliver for the people of our country," Sanders said, reflecting on the administration's quick response to the COVID-19 pandemic. He urged for more measures in the next four years, including higher taxes on the wealthy and opposition to price gouging, aligning with Harris's proposed economic policies. Sanders also called for increased teacher wages and a higher minimum wage, highlighting the need for an economy that benefits everyone, not just the billionaire class.

The evening featured speeches from prominent Democrats including Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, and Senator Tammy Duckworth. Kamala Harris, in her surprise remarks, celebrated President Joe Biden's leadership. A video also paid tribute to Harris's Californian roots and her mother's critical role in her upbringing, underscoring her historic candidacy as the first Asian American woman and woman of color to head a major party ticket.
