Members of the Indian community in Poland's Lodz are gearing up for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit to Warsaw. The community has expressed great enthusiasm, praising PM Modi for his accomplishments in India. PM Modi's visit to Poland and Ukraine, scheduled from August 21-23, was announced by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Monday. This will be the first official visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Poland in 45 years.

The excitement was palpable as people carrying Indian flags chanted 'Modi Modi.' Speaking to ANI, Rahul, a local Indian, said they had been eagerly waiting for PM Modi's visit and would welcome him with open arms. He commended PM Modi for the evacuation of Indians from Ukraine during the 2022 conflict between Moscow and Kyiv.

'I welcome him with all my heart,' said Rahul. 'We were waiting for PM Modi to visit Poland, and today that day has come. After the war in Ukraine started, they evacuated so many Indians who were trapped. The evacuation was possible due to Modi Ji; otherwise, it would have been very difficult. Aaj Modi hai to mumkin hai.' The visit coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties between India and Poland, established in 1954 when the Indian and Polish embassies were opened in Warsaw and New Delhi, respectively.

Further echoing the sentiment, Jaimeel Bhatt mentioned, 'We are very excited and will go to welcome him.' Manoj Variani, another community member, lauded PM Modi for his developmental work in India. 'I have been here for 25 years and was awaiting PM Modi's visit to Poland. Finally, he is visiting, and we welcome him. Modi Ji has made our country a lot better.'

Pawan Kumar, who has been living in Poland for the past 20 years, hailed the visit as a 'great honor.' 'PM Modi has done very good work for our country. We are proud that India is becoming famous in Poland. This visit will further strengthen Poland-India relations,' he added.

Earlier, MEA Secretary (West) Tanmaya Lal stated that PM Modi would visit Poland at the invitation of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Describing it as a 'landmark visit,' Lal recalled the strong historical ties between the two countries, including Poland's assistance in evacuating Indian students from Ukraine during the 2022 conflict and the refuge provided to over 6000 Polish women and children in India during World War 2.

'The Indian community in Poland, estimated at around 25,000, including 5,000 students, will be an essential part of the visit. PM Modi will hold meetings with key Polish leaders and will receive a ceremonial welcome at Warsaw. After concluding his visit to Poland, PM Modi will travel to Ukraine,' Lal added.
