During her speech at the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, U.S. First Lady Jill Biden shared the poignant moment when President Joe Biden decided not to seek reelection, digging deep into his soul last month. She expressed confidence in the new Democratic ticket, comprised of Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, saying, 'Kamala and Tim, you will win.'

Jill Biden addressed the crowd, praising Harris and Walz for inspiring a new generation, emphasizing that everyone is part of something bigger than themselves, according to The Washington Post. Senator Chris Coons of Delaware preceded her, as the audience showed their support by holding green 'JILL' signs and giving her a standing ovation as she took the stage.

Urging unity, Jill Biden called on everyone to rally behind Harris and Walz with determination, stating, 'We will fight and we will win!' She reminisced about their late son, Beau Biden, who had expressed admiration for Harris, deeming her 'special.'

Jill Biden also paid tribute to President Joe Biden, recounting their shared journey from raising children to his rise to the highest office in the land. Joe Biden had announced on June 21 that he would not seek reelection, citing concerns about his age, especially after a poor debate performance against Donald Trump.

Harris announced Tim Walz as her running mate, selected from a pool of well-recognized candidates from politically strategic states. The DNC's first night also featured speeches from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former President and First Lady Barack and Michelle Obama.

Before his speech, President Biden appeared emotional as he walked to the convention stage, with signs reading 'We [heart] Joe' and chants of 'We love Joe' filling the United Center. His emotional arrival, reported by The Hill, saw him standing for over four minutes as the cheers continued.
