5th IMMAF Youth World Championships Kick Off in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi [UAE], August 7 (ANI/WAM): The 5th IMMAF Youth World Championships began today at Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi, under the patronage of Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council. Organized by the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) and hosted by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, the championship will run until August 10, 2024. This event marks the third consecutive year it has been held in Abu Dhabi.
The competition features over 800 athletes from more than 45 countries, competing in three categories: Youth C (12-13 years), Youth B (14-15 years), and Youth A (16-17 years). The UAE National Team, which ranked first among Arab teams and achieved fourth place last year, will have a strong presence. Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Al Hashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, thanked Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, for his unwavering support for UAE sports. He also expressed gratitude to Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his patronage and guidance, considering it a cornerstone of the event's success.
Al Hashmi emphasized that the leadership's support serves as a powerful inspiration for local athletes to aim for greater achievements. He remarked, "Hosting the World Youth Mixed Martial Arts Championship for the third year in a row signifies the global sports community's trust in Abu Dhabi. It underscores the city's status as a key destination for major international sporting events." The opening ceremony was attended by notable figures including Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa bin Sultan bin Shakhbout Al Nahyan, President of the Asian Chess Federation, and other local dignitaries.
