Climate activist Greta Thunberg has expressed solidarity with the Baloch Yakjehti Committee and other groups opposing state oppression in Pakistan. Thunberg has called on the Pakistani government to end its crackdown on peaceful gatherings organized by Baloch women against the Baloch genocide. The activist decried the use of road blockages, house raids, and abductions of organizers.
In a post on X, Thunberg labeled the reports from Gwadar as 'extremely concerning.' She also called for the immediate release of all forcibly disappeared organizers and others. 'The right to resist state repression is a fundamental human right,' Thunberg emphasized, urging an end to the abductions.
Reports indicate that Pakistani forces have intensified their crackdowns ahead of the 'Baloch Raaji Muchi' slated for July 28 in Gwadar. Arrests have been made across various districts, including Kalat and Quetta, with many individuals still unaccounted for. The Baloch Yakjehti Committee condemned these actions and demanded the immediate release of detained members, highlighting the unwavering determination of the Baloch people to participate in the gathering despite state efforts to hinder them.
