US Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee for the Presidential elections, held discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, urging him to finalize a ceasefire agreement for Gaza, CNN reported. Harris emphasized that she 'will not be silent' about the suffering in Gaza while reaffirming her 'unwavering' support for Israel.

Harris's remarks, as reported by CNN, provided a clear perspective on her stance regarding the conflict. She underscored the importance of how the war is conducted, noting hopeful progress in talks for an agreement. 'It is time to get this deal done,' Harris told reporters, addressing those calling for a ceasefire and peace.

The vice president detailed the US-backed proposal, stressing the necessity to end the war with Israel's security intact and the release of hostages. 'The suffering of Palestinians in Gaza must end, allowing them freedom, dignity, and self-determination,' she said, as cited by CNN. Harris also highlighted efforts to bring home American hostages in Gaza while acknowledging Israel's right to self-defense.

'The devastation in Gaza over the last nine months is horrific,' Harris said. 'Images of dead children and displaced, desperate people should not be ignored. We must not become numb to suffering, and I will not stay silent,' she stated following her meeting with Netanyahu in Washington.

Concluding her remarks, Harris reminded the American public that the Gaza conflict is complex. She called for condemnation of terrorism, violence, antisemitism, and Islamophobia. 'Let us work to unite our country,' she urged, as reported by CNN. (ANI)
