Oman's Foreign Ministry Undersecretary, Khalid Muslahi, visited the Indian Embassy in Muscat to offer condolences following the death of an Indian national in a shooting incident. The Indian Ambassador to Oman, Amit Narang, expressed gratitude for Muslahi's visit and praised Omani authorities for their quick actions and support.
The Indian Embassy in Oman stated in a social media post that Muslahi's visit followed the killing of one Indian and the injury of another in a shooting at a mosque in Muscat on July 15. The embassy appreciated the prompt support and action from Omani authorities.
According to reports from Al Jazeera, the shooting, a rare act of violence in Oman, resulted in six deaths and 28 injuries. Among the deceased were four Pakistanis and a policeman. Omani police reported that three gunmen involved in the attack were killed.
The Indian Embassy in Muscat is closely monitoring the well-being of its community members and issued condolences to the victims' families. It is also working on the repatriation of the deceased Indian national's remains. Ambassador Narang assured the injured's families of full support and expressed sincere appreciation for Omani security agencies' prompt actions.
