The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has condemned the recent assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal noted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swift reaction, expressing deep concerns and condemning the violent act.

In a weekly press briefing, Jaiswal reiterated Modi's statement, highlighting that violence should never play a role in politics or democracies. Modi extended wishes for Trump's swift recovery and expressed solidarity with the American people and the families of the deceased and injured.

The attack occurred at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13. Secret Service agents quickly neutralized the gunman, identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, but not before he caused significant harm. Trump, who sustained a minor injury, expressed gratitude to his supporters and attributed his survival to divine intervention.
