Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz launched a strong salvo at the Pakistan Supreme Court over its recent ruling allowing Imran Khan's party to claim reserved seats in parliament, Geo News reported. She urged the apex court judges to let the country 'progress', speaking at an event in Lahore on Friday.
Accusing the SC judges of 'rewriting the constitution' to favor Imran Khan, Nawaz questioned who was against the nation's progress. She claimed the court provided undue relief to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), referencing the party's founder and former PM Imran Khan.
In a significant legal victory for PTI, the top court ruled on July 12 that PTI was eligible for reserved seats, reversing an earlier decision by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) that had expelled the party from parliament. Nawaz pledged the government would complete its term and resist any attempts at political instability with 'iron hands.'
