Former US Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard has sharply criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for her remarks against JD Vance, who has been announced as Donald Trump's running mate. Gabbard labeled Harris a "self-serving politician who should not be in office."
Criticizing Harris's warning to Americans that Vance would be loyal only to Trump and not to the country, Gabbard defended Vance's military record. She questioned whether Harris had ever risked her life for the country, highlighting Vance's enlistment in the Marine Corps post-9/11 and his deployment to Iraq in 2005.
Sharing a video on X (formerly Twitter), Gabbard said, "The audacity that Kamala Harris has to question JD Vance's loyalty is off the charts." She also pointed out Harris's hypocrisy, given her own political ambitions. Gabbard's comments come after Harris accused Vance of acting as a "rubber stamp" for Trump's extreme agenda and criticized him for opposing the certification of the 2020 election results and supporting a national abortion ban.
In a video released Wednesday, Harris said, "Make no mistake: JD Vance will be loyal only to Trump, not to our country." According to ABC News, she also targeted Vance's positions on IVF protections and critical programs like Head Start and Medicare. JD Vance officially accepted his vice presidential nomination, calling on Americans to support Trump in the upcoming election.
Vance introduced himself to voters, describing his journey from poverty to his current position. He pledged to serve all Americans and restore lost opportunities. "From Iraq to Afghanistan, from the financial crisis to the Great Recession, from open borders to strengthening wages, the people who govern this country have failed and failed again," Vance said.
