President Ram Chandra Paudel will appoint Oli, 72, following the expiration of the deadline for political parties to stake their claims. The move comes after Pushpa Kamal Dahal lost a confidence motion. Oli's appointment is backed by signatures from 165 lawmakers.

The Nepali Congress and CPN-UML have agreed to a distribution of ministerial positions, with discussions ongoing about key posts. Former First Lady Arzu Rana Deuba and sole billionaire Binod Chaudhary are potential candidates for ministries. The two parties will lead the government on a rotating basis until 2027.
