President Joe Biden's campaign is discreetly evaluating Vice President Kamala Harris's chances against former President Donald Trump through a voter survey, according to a New York Times report. The sensitive nature of this evaluation has led to it being shared anonymously.

Amid rising pressure on Biden to reconsider his reelection bid, some of his long-standing advisers are reportedly exploring ways to persuade him to withdraw from the race. Many Democrats were deeply troubled by Biden's recent debate performance and are increasingly calling for him to step aside.

Democratic leaders challenged Biden to demonstrate a viable path to reelection following poor debate performances and disappointing battleground state polling. Despite mounting concerns, Biden has declared he will continue, expressing confidence in his ability to defeat Trump.

In a July 9 letter to congressional Democrats, Biden reaffirmed his intent to stay in the race, emphasizing unity within the party to defeat Trump. He called for collective effort, warning that any wavering would benefit Trump.

On July 8, a call led by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries saw top House Democrats urging Biden to reconsider his 2024 campaign, citing concerns over his impact on the party's election chances.
