The Congress sounded the alarm on Monday over the crumbling healthcare infrastructure in Nagaland, emphasizing a dire shortage of medical equipment and healthcare professionals.

Meshenlo Kath, chairperson of the Public Grievances Department, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee, highlighted the absence of CT scan and mammogram facilities in the state's hospitals. ''We've approached the Naga Hospital Authority in Kohima about this yet nothing has changed,'' Kath stated, noting that this has forced patients to either rely on private hospitals or travel considerable distances for essential diagnostics.

Particularly troubling is the situation in remote districts like Zunheboto, where patients face journeys exceeding 150 km to access CT scan services. Kath also expressed frustration that despite gaining statehood earlier, Nagaland's healthcare trails behind that of Manipur and Meghalaya. The Congress has urged immediate government intervention to supply necessary equipment and medical staff to avert potential health crises.
