In a bid to strengthen Delhi's healthcare infrastructure, the city government announced plans to increase the number of ambulances, ICU beds, and ventilators. Health Minister Pankaj Singh outlined these improvements during Monday's assembly session, revealing plans to rectify current service delays by expanding the current provisions within months.
According to Singh, the number of CATS ambulances has grown from 155 in 2014 to 261 today, despite an increase in response times, necessitating immediate action. The government will work swiftly with the chief minister to bolster the fleet further, aiming to reverse worsening response time statistics.
Amidst staff shortages and facility deficits, Singh promised that the city's health department would expedite the procurement of ICU beds and ventilators, which had seen significant increases amid the COVID-19 pandemic but slowed as of late. With new acquisition plans underway, Singh guaranteed a focus on enhancing health services across the capital.
