Doctors Demand Safety: Protests Erupt in Tamil Nadu
Doctors in Tamil Nadu have protested against the attack on a government oncologist, demanding safety measures. The Health Minister introduced new protocols including triage tags and identity cards for patient attendants. Oncologist Balaji, who was stabbed multiple times, is recovering and will be moved from ICU to the ward.

In a strong demonstration of solidarity, doctors throughout Tamil Nadu protested on Thursday against the violent assault on a government oncologist. The protesting medical fraternity demanded enhanced safety measures for healthcare professionals.
Addressing the urgent concerns, State Health Minister Ma Subramanian announced the immediate implementation of a triage tag system to prioritize patient medical needs, alongside issuing temporary ID cards to patient attendants, to better manage hospital security.
Updating the public on the victim's condition, Minister Subramanian reported that Oncologist Balaji, who suffered serious injuries from being stabbed at least seven times, is recovering steadily in the ICU. He is expected to be transferred to a general ward later today following further medical evaluations.
