The Odisha government has initiated a revamp of the dress code for its nursing service staff, affecting both male and female employees. As part of this transformation, the Health and Family Welfare Department has introduced six different dress patterns distinguished by colour codes, as confirmed by a health department official.
The changes designate light lavender dresses for female nursing officers and senior nursing officers, while assistant nursing superintendents will don cyan blue. Senior positions such as deputy and nursing superintendents will wear a predominantly white uniform with a contrasting deep purple bordered apron.
Both male and female nurses must adopt scrub suits for indoor duties such as ICU and operation theatre work, whereas specific color-coded uniforms are prescribed for more general settings, like wards and casualty services. This decision aligns with the BJP government's ongoing initiative to reform state employees' uniforms for clarity and professionalism.
