The Delhi government's food safety department has ramped up its enforcement activities at various fish and meat markets across the city, aiming to ensure adherence to hygiene standards. Officials confirmed the move on Saturday, stating that maintaining these standards is critical for public health.

A concerted drive was initiated earlier in the week, focusing on collection of fish, chicken, and other meat samples for quality inspection. Authorities included site inspections in this push, scrutinizing numerous vendors to ensure compliance.

Markets including Mongolpuri, Zaid market in Motibagh, Shahdara, and Shakarpur's Yamuna hub were targeted. During these raids, officials collected 11 samples and issued formal notices to several shops for operating without a valid Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) license, a legal requirement for food businesses.
