An outbreak of diarrheal diseases has gripped Gurla village in Vizianagaram district, affecting 200 individuals. One casualty has been reported. Health officials claim the situation is now under control, with 53 individuals still receiving treatment.

Health and Family Welfare Special Chief Secretary M T Krishna Babu attributed the outbreak to contamination caused by open defecation and compromised water pipelines intersecting drainage channels. Efforts include treating severe cases at government hospitals and orchestrating free health camps through extensive door-to-door surveys.

Furthermore, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has ordered the provision of clean drinking water using tankers and the continuation of health initiatives, while appointing senior IAS officer K Vijayanand to conduct a comprehensive study of the situation.
