The West Bengal government has initiated talks with striking junior doctors to resolve the ongoing RG Kar Hospital impasse, according to an official statement. The scheduled meeting aims to address the escalating demands of the doctors and is set for 7:45 pm at Swasthya Bhavan, the state health department's Salt Lake headquarters.
In an official email, Chief Secretary Manoj Pant invited a delegation of 8-10 doctors to participate in the discussion. The doctors have been on a hunger strike, demanding justice for the RG Kar Hospital victim, among other concerns.
Debasish Halder, a representative from the Junior Doctors' Forum, confirmed their attendance at the meeting. He emphasized their commitment to 10 key demands, including the removal of the health secretary, suggesting that the resolution may not come easily.
