Pakistan has seen a concerning rise in polio cases, with four new cases pushing this year's total to 32, according to official data released this week. Three of these cases were reported from Sindh, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded one.
A nationwide vaccination campaign in September aimed to shield 33 million children under five from polio, marking a vital step in eradicating the disease. Officials noted both accomplishments and areas needing improvement, as key stakeholders gathered for a comprehensive campaign evaluation.
Polio remains endemic in Pakistan and Afghanistan, spurring ongoing efforts. A second mass vaccination drive is scheduled for October 28, emphasizing the need for persistent focus on closing operational gaps.
