The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has called on the government to implement temporary solutions to initiate the NEET PG 2024 counselling process, which is currently stalled due to a case in the Supreme Court. This pause is causing distress among students and impacting healthcare operations.
In a letter to Union Health Minister J P Nadda, the IMA highlighted the growing concerns among NEET PG aspirants, who face uncertainty due to the delays. The delay is also affecting healthcare institutions due to the postponed induction of postgraduate students, which is critical for staffing hospitals and medical colleges.
The IMA emphasized the need for immediate intervention by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to ensure students' futures aren't compromised. They also noted issues with state counselling committees over incentive marks for in-service candidates, urging a swift resolution to maintain the healthcare system's efficacy.
